Call for Papers
The Symposium on Sustainability and Resilience across the Computing Continuum invites researchers, practitioners, and innovators to submit original papers addressing the convergence of cloud and edge computing technologies. As computing environments continue to evolve beyond traditional centralized models, the integration of cloud and edge technologies has become increasingly important for next-generation applications and services. This symposium aims to bridge the gap between centralized cloud infrastructure and distributed edge systems, exploring how these complementary approaches can be harmonized to enable new capabilities, applications, and services. The symposium will provide a platform for interdisciplinary discussions on how these complementary paradigms can be unified to create resilient, efficient, and intelligent distributed systems. The symposium theme centers on sustainability and resilience in edge-cloud systems, emphasizing approaches that improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint while ensuring fault tolerance and system reliability.
Papers are invited on topics including, but not limited to:
Sustainable Computing Across Cloud and Edge
- Energy-aware service distribution and placement
- Carbon footprint optimization across the computing continuum
- Energy-efficient edge-cloud architectures and frameworks
- Network-level greening
- Sustainable design patterns for distributed applications
- Grid- and environment-aware workload scheduling
- Sustainability metrics and measurement across distributed systems
- AI for sustainable edge-cloud management
- Circular economy and lifecycle perspectives
Safety, Reliability, and Fault-Tolerance Across Cloud and Edge
- Cross-layer fault detection, diagnosis, and recovery mechanisms
- Formal verification and runtime assurance for safety-critical edge-cloud systems
- Resilient orchestration of microservices
- Service continuity under network partitions and intermittent connectivity
- Data consistency and integrity
- Proactive failure prediction and mitigation
- Autonomic self-healing across the continuum
- Disaster recovery, geo-redundancy, and replica placement strategies
